Maternal and Child Health
(309) 794-7093

The purpose of the Maternal and Child Health Program is to improve and maintain the health of women, children, youth and families, including those with special health care needs.

Our families get help in finding an ongoing source of medical care and financial assistance and are connected to nutrition services, health education, transportation, mental health services, substance abuse treatments programs and other services they may need.

Working together with other resources in our community we are able to assist with the education of child care providers, parents and children by providing health and safety information.

The Rock Island County Health Department is one of several Lead Agencies that provide in-service training for DCFS staff, physician offices, private agency staff and foster parents to ensure the medical needs of foster children are identified and addressed.

Many of our programs ensure access to quality health care. Some of our other programs such as Hearing and Vision Screening, the Lead Poisoning Prevention Program, NEST, W.I.C. and Women's Health Services enhance our ability to continue improving the health of women and children.
