Genetics

Genetics is an amazing story with many chapters and characters. Some of the character's names and roles they play are listed below.

Chromosomes are organized structures of DNA & proteins that are found in cells. Most cells in humans have 23 pairs of chromosomes.

Genes are passed on from parent to child and help deterine physical appearance, behavior, and some diseases. For instance, genes have an effect on the color of your eyes. Genes can be dominant or recessive.

We invite you to visit our Genetic web pages snd write your family's story.

In Illinois, all newborns are screened for genetic disorders. Click here to see the complete list of genetic disorders.
