WIC gives babies and children a healthy start. Income-eligible https://www.fns.usda.gov/wic/wic-income-eligibility-guidelines pregnant and breastfeeding women, new mothers, and children up to age 5 who live in Rock Island County gain access to nutritious food, information on healthy eating and breastfeeding, and referrals to health care and other services.

We’re here to help

  • Healthy foods at no cost, including fresh, frozen or canned fruits and vegetables,
    milk, cheese, peanut butter, healthy cereals, beans, eggs, tuna, baby food, infant formula, bread 
  • Breastfeeding support and breast pumps
  • Nutrition counseling and education
  • Health and developmental screenings
  • Lead screenings
  • Referrals to community agencies
  • WIC vouchers won’t make SNAP benefits go down
  • Participating vendors throughout Rock Island County

Who can use WIC?

  • Women who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or just had a baby
  • Infants and children to age 5
  • Rock Island County residents
  • Have a family income at 185 percent or less of the federal poverty level
  • All kinds of families: married and single parents, working or not working, grandparents caring for children, foster parents or other legal guardians of children age 5 and younger

What to bring to your appointment

  • Two recent check stubs or current public aid medical card
  • Piece of mail received at current address postmarked within the last 30 days
  • Picture identification or voter registration card, blood donor card, library card, work ID card
  • Social Security card (if not on file)
  • New baby’s birth certificate
  • All people receiving benefits
  • WIC Identification Card (yellow booklet)
  • Interpreter (if applicable)
