Infectious Diseases

Communicable Disease

The communicable disease program conducts investigative interviews with clients having or suspected of having reportable diseases. The program provides disease information and materials to professional clinicians, clients, international travelers and the general public. Immigration and Naturalization

The Health Department is a Designated Civil Surgeon appointed by the United States Immigration and Naturalization Service. Health physicals and immunizations are provided for immigrants seeking U.S. residency.

Immunizations

Immunization administration is provided by appointment for children and adults. To Schedule an appointment call 794-7080. The health department accepts reimbursement from Medicare, Medicaid, most Blue Cross Blue Shield plans, along with many other providers. Please check for specific billing information. Influenza Vaccinations

The immunization program offered approximately 75 clinics throughout Rock Island County. The health department accepts reimbursement from Medicare, Medicaid, most Blue Cross Blue Shield plans, along with many other providers. Please check for specific billing information. International Travel

The Health Department provides information on vaccine preventable diseases recommended for international travel, administers immunizations such as tetanus, diphtheria, polio, hepatitis A & B, influenza and pneumonia vaccines and provides documentation on vaccines given.

Refugee Screening Program

The Refugee Screening Program screens all individuals for health problems upon entering the United States.

Tuberculosis

The TB program guides and oversees TB control efforts of local institutions and practitioners in Rock Island County. The program provides consultation regarding TB treatment, contact investigation and infection control practices. TB testing is available for a small fee. Staff can provide education and training to infection control nurses, long-term care facilities, nursing schools, school nurses and community-based organizations and individuals.
