Restaurant Inspections

The Environmental Health Division inspects restaurants and grocery stores in all areas of the County that do not have a local health department. The cities of East Moline, Moline, and Rock Island each have their own health inspectors.

Food inspections are performed in a variety of settings including but not limited to restaurants, taverns,grocery and convenient stores, schools, hospitals, and day cares.  Facilities are separated into risk categories on the basis of the type of food preparation they carry out.  Higher risk operations are inspected more frequently.  Rock Island County Health Department licenses food service establishments for one year periods.  Please click on the following link for a food service establishment and retail store license application.

Food Sanitation

Rock Island County Health Department has implemented the FDA Food Code 2017 as part of a state-wide effort to standardize food inspections across Illinois. Please review the following documents pertaining to the FDA 2017 Food Code changes. Check back for updates as new information is added.

Food Rescue Partnership
